23 March 2015
Abu Dhabi - The Dow Chemical Company (NYSE: DOW) will once again be showcasing its full range of innovationsat the Sour Oil and Gas Advanced Technology (SOGAT) exhibition and conference in Abu Dhabi from 22 to 26 March 2015. This year, the focus of Dow's participation will be to highlight the advantages of hybrid solvents in acid gas removal and the company's capabilities in this space.

"Since its inception in 2004, SOGAT has grown in stature to become the region's leading conference covering gas processing and treatment, and is therefore an important platform for Dow,"said Adriano Gentilucci, Commercial Director - IMEA for Dow Oil, Gas & Mining. "We have been coming here for a number of years now and continue to value this opportunity to showcase our core gas treating expertise and full range of innovations, to key industry stakeholders".

Properly formulated hybrid solvents -blends of chemical and physical solvents -are capable of removing organic sulfur compounds from natural gas streams, with reduced hydrocarbon uptake compared to physical solvents, while still reaching the customer's stringent gas specifications on acid gas removal.  These hybrid solvents can be applied at natural gas plants and refineries, andalso be extendedto other potential applications in the oil & gas industry. Dow has recently invested in further R&D efforts to develop an accurate simulator tool for hybrid solvents. These topics will be explored in detailin Dow's technical paper presentation entitled "Modeling Acid Gas and Mercaptan Removal with Hybrid Solvents", during Session C on March 24th. The paper will be presented by Jan Lambrichts, Sr. Research Scientist at Dow.

Given the Middle East's significant gas treating needs, the region is no doubt a key focus market for Dow. As a result, the Company's regional customer base is ably served from technical engineersbased out of Dow offices in UAE, KSA, Kuwait, Egypt, Algeria and soon in Qatar. At SOGAT, Dowwill showcase its AMINE MANAGEMENTSM Program, a comprehensive gas sweetening service program tailored to each customer's performance objectives,to help them optimize their total system costs. The service program uses Dow's proprietary state-of-the-art simulation software, which offers customers best-in-class performance prediction technology.

Dow is also the world's leading manufacturer of amine and physical solvents for gas treating. Part of this portfolio is a proven range of Dow formulated solvents e.g. UCARSOL™ and SELEXOL™ Specialty Solvents, heat transfer fluidsviz. DOWTHERM™ Heat Transfer Fluids and a triethylene glycol (TEG)-based dessicant called NORKOOLTM DESITHERMTM. When it comes to formulated amine solvents, Dow's delivery time and customized service is second to none, mainly because Dow recently acquired the capability to formulate UCARSOLTMin the region, at a facility located in the Jebel Ali Free Zone, UAE.

In addition to offering the broadest selection of gas treating technologies and services of any chemistry solutions supplier, Dow is the only gas treating solvent supplier that has its own solvent purification system, the UCARSEP™ Heat Stable Salt Remediation Process. This is a system that removes contaminants from the amine system while the system is still running, to improve the amine solution's performance while avoiding costly shutdown time. The technology is well proven by over 15 years of commercial operation globally.
