Abu Dhabi, September 29, 2015

The National Election Committee (NEC) has announced that the second day of early voting for the Federal National Council Elections 2015 witnessed significant participation from voters as they exercised their franchise at dedicated polling centres to elect their representatives for the next four years.

His Excellency Tariq Hilal Lootah, Under-Secretary of Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs and Head of the Elections Management Committee, said the NEC has introduced early voting in the current FNC elections as a new mechanism to effectively engage all the voters and enable them to actively participate in the national electoral process.

Commending the candidates and voters for their commitment to the elections, HE Lootah said the early voting process was going ahead smoothly with the support of a number of highly-qualified coordinators who were offering all the assistance to the voters, including support on the newly introduced electronic voting system.

Early elections have offered an alternative opportunity for citizens who may not be able to vote on the Election Day on 3rd of October. HE Lootah urged all the voters to make use of the facility and participate in the elections as part of their national duty.

The period of early voting is set to conclude on Wednesday 30th of September 2015 by 6:00 pm. Earlier, in the first stage of the electoral process, Emirati citizens living overseas cast their votes in UAE embassies and consulates abroad on 20th and 21st of September.
