• Winners of The MENA Interior Design and Architecture Awards and INDEX and workspace at INDEX Product Design Awards celebrated

Dubai - The 2015 winners of Middle East Interior Design and Architecture Awards and of the INDEX and workspace at INDEX Product Design Awardswere announcedat a glittering awards ceremony at N'Dulge, Atlantis the Palm, following the opening of both shows.The two competitions, now in their third editions, reward outstanding interior design projects across the Middle East and North Africa as well some of the world's best product designers with products on display at either INDEX and workspace at INDEX exhibitions.Out of more than one hundred and sixty submissions, the judging panel has shortlisted 53 projects and 27 products, among which 28 winners will be recognised at the gala celebration.

The Middle East and North Africa Interior Design Awards - MEIDAA
MEIDAA was open to interior designers, interior architects and architects from across the globe, and recognises projects located in the MENA region which have been completed between 1st January 2013 and 31st December 2014. MEIDAA was supported by In-Lite, HNI International, BSH - Walls and Floors and Aati. Projects have been evaluated by an expert judging panel including Charles Leon, Director Charles Leon Associates; AnnamariaLambri, Interior Design Professor at the American University Dubai; Christopher Seymour, Partner & Head of Property & Social Infrastructure UAE at EC Harris; Steven Charlton, Managing Director at Perkins+Will; George Arnold Foster-Vincent, Head of Design at Ethan Allen; and Richard Wagner, Sustainability Consultant & Partner at Wanders Architects.

The projects that were recognised as the most outstanding given an award include: 40 Kong, Prospect Design International (Best Bar, Café, Lounge & Club Project);  Viola Communications, M+N Architecture (Best Corporate Space - Large); TME, Broadway Interiors (Best Corporate Space - Small); Khalifa University Extension, RSP Architects Planners and Engineers (Best Cultural, Institutional & Educational Project); Al Khor Private Hospital, Tangramgulf (Best Healthcare Project); Shaqiq Bay Resort, Tangramgulf (Best hospitality Project); Jumeirah Emirates Towers, Perkins + Will (Best Hospitality Refurbishment Project); Zeralda Resort, Tangramgulf (Best Luxury Hotels & Resorts Project); Al Khor Residential Community, Tangramgulf (Best Landscape Project); Tablat Bridge, Diba Tensile Architecture (Best Municipal or Public Spaces Project); Eden Beach Club, Prospect Design International (Best Recreational Project); DIFC - Refurbishment by BLID, Brian Leib Interiors (Best Residential Refurbishment Project); Villa Blanche, Studio Bruno Guélaff (Best Residential Space - Large); The Loft, AgataKurzela (Best Residential Space - Small); Inakaya, Stickman Tribe (Best Restaurant Project); The Galleria on Al Maryah Island (Best Retail Project); Echohaus, German University of Technology in Oman (Best Sustainable Project) and The Loft, AgataKurzela (Best in Competition).

INDEX and workspace at INDEX Product Design Awards
The Product Design Awards honour manufacturers and designers for excellence and innovation in product design for both the residential and commercial sectors. The competition was open exclusively to companies exhibiting at the 2015 editions of INDEX and workspace at INDEX exhibitions and just 10 winning projects were selected by the judges.

The most innovative products awarded were: Smoke, Designed by Joe Columbo - Arnolfo Di Cambio (Decorative Accessories); WoodVision: The Compass Table, Flyvision Trading and CeganoSmartTable Designed by C  P Design Team, C+P Moebelsysteme (Desks and Tables); Royal Affair Dining Set, La Sorogeeka Interiors (Curniture-Residential); Da Vinci Evolution Designed by Stefano Margiacchi, Axis Cucine (Kitchen & Bathroom); Optimyst Electric Fires, Designed by Martin Naughton, Xpelair (Lighting); Golden Victory Hand, FlyVision Trading (Retail Furniture & Accessories); Energia, Internal Line Interior Design (Seating); Snowsound by Caimi, Crownhouse (Screens, Partitions & Moveable Walls); SonicWall Smart Curved, C+P Moebelsysteme (Technology) and Triscape Designed by Todd Bracher, HNI International (Upcycled/Recycled Products).

"For C+P it means a lot to win two product design awards at this year's workspace at INDEX. The GCC and the whole MENA-region is an interesting and growing market for our company, especially for our exclusive products which have the highest level of design and functionality.

Getting such positive feedback in the form of an award, shows us that we achieved our goal with the Smart Table and the SonicWall Curved to create something outstanding, the products have attracted a lot of attention from many visitors to the show," commented Tobias Walter of C+P Moebelsysteme.

INDEX 2015 and workspace at INDEX are open to industry professionals and trade visitors every day until Thursday 21st May, from 11am to 7pm for trade with late night opening on Wednesday 20thuntil 9pm. Both shows are also open to general public upon purchasing a four-day entrance pass for AED 250 every day from 4pm to 7pm.
