Agreement aims at strengthening the UAE's national identity through enhanced cooperation in the field of scientific research

Dubai, UAE, 19 March 2015

The Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Center (HHC) today signed a cooperation agreement with the University of Sharjah for a term of 2 years.

The Agreement aims at bolstering cooperation in the field of scientific research between the Center and the University, represented by the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences as well as other affiliated colleges under the University, within the framework of the Center's quest to preserve and enrich the heritage and national identity of the UAE.

Dr Amina Khamis Al Dhaheri, Director of Research and Studies Department at the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Center, said: "As one of the leading research institutions in the UAE and the Gulf region, the University of Sharjah plays an active role in promoting national identity through research and scientific studies, as well as the provision of high-quality research programs. The University also offers post-graduate programs in the field of history and heritage for Master's and doctoral students, which aim to enrich scientific knowledge and maintain the Islamic culture, heritage and history of the UAE and the Arab world."

"This is not the first time the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Center has collaborated with the University of Sharjah, as both parties had previously cooperated in the field of scientific research, whereupon the Center helped print some of the University's Master's theses and benefited greatly from the expertise of the University's faculty. The Center has also funded scientific research conducted at the College of Communication," she added. "We are delighted to sign this cooperation agreement, which further strengthens our cooperation with the University of Sharjah and reinforces our efforts to preserve the history and heritage of the UAE and the Arab world."

Commenting on the signing of the cooperation agreement, Dr. Ahmed Al Omoush - Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, said: "We are in turn very pleased to be working together with The Hamdan Bin Mohammed Center. The Center's investment in documenting and preserving tangible and intangible elements of Emirati culture and heritage through a range of activities is highly appreciated and will serve as a great base for researchers and scholars working on projects on and in this region."
