UAE, January 19, 2015

Based on the directives of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, that stipulated following closely the scientific journey of Adeeb Sulaiman Al Balushi and providing him with the support needed to develop his talents, The Emirates Institution for Advanced Science and Technology (EIAST) reached out to The Global Center for Gifted and Talented Children (GCGTC) in order to develop a special curriculum for the young inventor. In parallel and separate to his current school curriculum, the three-year program, which aims to achieve balance between developing skills and mental health, was developed after Adeeb Al Balushi took an IQ test showing that his IQ surpassed that of other children his own age.

Roya Klingner, Founder and Head of GCGTC, visited Dubai and met with Adeeb, his family and school. During her visit, Klingner held a number of meetings with Adeeb's teachers to share with them the best practices for supporting, nurturing and developing his talents. Klingner also met the child's parents together with the team at EIAST,to discuss the proposed roadmap for development, the places he has to visit and the programs he will be undertaking.

"Adeeb is a very creative and gifted boy with high social skills and leadership potential. During my visit to Dubai I had the opportunity to visit his school, observe him in different classes and situations. I also talked to his principal, Mr. Jonathan Dey, and several of his teachers. As a result my center is going to create a curriculum tailored to his specific needs, potential, and creativity. In my talks with his school and parents, I recommended several activities, in cooperation with EIAST, to strengthen him for his special role in society. With my experience and knowledge I will do my best for Adeeb Al Balushi, the young inventor and gifted boy from Dubai," said Klingner.

H.E. Yousuf Al Shaibani, Director General, Emirates Institution for Advanced Science and Technology, noted that "The UAE is proud to be home to children as gifted as Adeeb Al Balushi, who is considered one of the youngest inventors in the world. EIAST is committed to supporting Emirati talents and helping them develop their skills from an early age by creating a favorable environment and providing the opportunities for training and acquiring scientific knowledge to help broaden their horizons and encourage early talents to surface."

"We are living in an age where man is in a race against fast-changing technology, so it is of the utmost importance to create new opportunities for our children so they keep up with a rapidly developming world and can contribute to society's progress,  achieving personal and economic growth," concluded Al Shaibani.

Sulaiman Al Balushi, Adeeb's father, said: "The IQ test was an important step for Adeeb since the results he scored were excellent. This is a testament to the scientific approach taken by the UAE in encouraging gifted children and paving the road for generations to come. We were very pleased with Ms. Roya Klingner's visit, and during several meetings with her, EIAST and the school we appreciated the recommendations she gave in regards to developing Adeebs' skills on a scientific, cultural and social level."

Al Balushi also expressed his gratitude for the support provided by the country's leaders and thanked EIAST for their support in developing his son's talents and skills.

EIAST was established by the Dubai Government in 2006 with the goal of promoting a culture of advanced scientific research and technology innovation in Dubai and the UAE, and enhancing technology innovation and scientific skills among UAE Nationals. It is mainly involved in outer space research and development, satellite manufacturing and systems development, space imaging, and ground station services and support for other satellites.
