'Shoor Initiative' takes quantitative leap towards achievement & excellence

UAE - Dubai Courts has announced that it has won the Sharjah Voluntary Award for 2015 under the Governmental Institutions, Departments and Bodies category for its 'Shoor Initiative' - a Volunteer Lawyers Program for Legal Consultants. The awarding took place during the event's 12th local session, coinciding with the 8th Arab Series and the 2nd Islamic Session, held under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. H.E. Expert Taresh Eid Al Mansouri, Director General of Dubai Courts, received the award for the program which was launched to raise the community's trust in the judicial system by providing free legal advice on various cases and lawsuits from an elite panel of lawyers and contribute to the overall happiness and welfare of society.

H.E. Expert Al Mansouri said: "Dubai Courts is always committed to voluntary work and considers it a national and cultural responsibility that is deeply rooted in the local society." He pointed to the fact that the UAE has succeeded in presenting itself as a role model for humanitarian, philanthropic, and voluntary work under the wise leadership of H.E. Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, and H.E. Sheikh Mohamed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE. Both leaders have carried the torch by following the footsteps of the Founder of the UAE, Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and upholding the UAE's values and supreme principles of the Islamic Hanafi religion to bring about a renaissance in voluntary work.

Expressing his great delight in receiving the Sharjah Voluntary Award, Al Mansouri stated that the awards embodies the vision of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi to honor excellence in voluntary activities to better serve the local society, the international community, and humanity at large. He added, "This award represents the achievements that we are very proud of and gives us a new responsibility to continue with our efforts to provide the best services in fostering a better society that is just and safe."

"The award recognizes our enormous efforts to actively contribute towards the achievement of welfare and better living standards by allowing people of all social ranks to be able to receive judicial services without any financial burden through the Shoor Volunteer Program. This program is the culmination of constructive cooperation between various legal offices across Dubai. We are surely proud to be amidst those being honored here today as this recognition comes after a long struggle of work to uphold the genuine ambition of providing the best to our society as we strive towards excellence, elevating the UAE's position among the world's leading nations," Al Mansouri concluded.

It is well noted that the Sharjah Voluntary Award is one of the leading awards that cares for volunteerism in the UAE and the Arab World. The Award is divided into two sections; the first is the 'Volunteerism Medal' granted to charity institutions and volunteers who have played a huge role in volunteer activities. The second one honors institutions and individuals, and is divided into five categories: individuals, students, educational institutions, governmental and private bodies, as well as humanitarian and charity organizations.
