Diyar Al Muharraq, one of the leading urban developers in the Kingdom of Bahrain, received a visiting French delegation at their headquarters located at the World Trade Center to learn about the vast process of urban planning for Diyar Al Muharraq. The visit took place on Thursday, the 16th of April 2015.
Diyar Al Muharraq Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Maher Al Shaer received the General Director of Urban Planning at the Ministry of Works, Municipality Affairs and Urban Planning Shaikh Hamad bin Mohamad Al Khalifa and the accompanying French delegation, the "Expertise France Consortium", which comprised of representatives from the French technical cooperation agency "Expertise France" and several French companies operating in the field of urban planning and development. Also present at the meeting were the Chief Operating Officer at Diyar Al Muharraq Mr. Yusef Al Thawadi, Senior Advisor Urban Planning at the Ministry, Mr. Al Sharif Faisal bin Jameel and several officials from the company's Technical and Development Departments.
During the meeting, discussions were held in relation to the various stages of urban planning for Diyar Al Muharraq, and their validation by the concerned governmental bodies. Also, issues pertaining to the planning and execution of infrastructure in several phases were discussed.
Speaking on this occasion, Dr Maher Al Shaer, Chief Executive Officer of Diyar Al Muharraq, said: "It is an immense honour for us at Diyar Al Muharraq to be given the opportunity to welcome the visiting French delegation and to show them the exemplary work done right from the conception of the idea of our substantial project to its current status. Thanks to the huge effort exerted by everyone at Diyar Al Muharraq and the co-operation of officials from Urban Development Department, we have come a long way since the foundation of the plan for the development was introduced and for these urban specialists of high caliber in their respective fields to have such an active interest in Diyar Al Muharraq speak volumes in itself in relation to Diyar Al Muharraq's far reaching reputation on the International arena".
Diyar Al Muharraq officials also delivered a detailed presentation showcasing all aspects of the project. The visitors were briefed on the size of the project, all stages of design of all the various components of Diyar Al Muharraq including the upcoming projects that are to take shape in the near future, the different phases of construction that all the projects within the development are currently in and the positive implications that an independent city integrated with all amenities and facilities that propagate a self sustaining community is certain to have on the economy of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
"The scope of work taking place in Diyar Al Muharraq is on a massive scale and as such, it is a mega project taking place in the Kingdom of Bahrain, making it one of the most significant as well. Therefore, it was only natural that the urban specialists comprising the delegation were absorbed by the uniqueness of the project and were engrossed by its sheer enormity and the idea of self sustenance that runs through the veins of the project. We look forward to the completion of such an expansive project that is sure to hugely impact every sector in the economy of the Kingdom of Bahrain and it was with pride that we shared our far-sighted vision and plans with the delegation," he added.
