Creative initiative to consolidate Dubai's strengths as hub of maritime excellence & innovation

Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA), the government authority charged with regulating, coordinating and supervising all aspects of Dubai's maritime sector, has announced the launch of the 'Smart Marine Services Platform' during its participation at the Dubai International Boat Show 2015. The move will contribute significantly towards keeping pace with measures adopted to transform the Emirate into a 'smart' city. The new initiative is strategically important to the automation of operations, support for DMCA's scope of work, and improvements to services through the provision of a single, highly advanced, and 'smart' platform that helps ensure the satisfaction and happiness of customers.

Amer Ali, Executive Director, Dubai Maritime City Authority, said: "The Smart Marine Services Platform comes within the framework of innovative initiatives that DMCA is looking forward to launching this year. It is in line with the Authority's strong commitment to consolidate the leadership of Dubai as an international center of excellence and innovation for the marine sector." He further pointed out that the platform demonstrates DMCA's continuous efforts to drive the transformation towards a 'smart' government and city by employing the latest technologies to enhance efficiency and achieve the happiness of its people according to the vision and guidance of the wise government.

Ali added: "DMCA is committed to adopt a culture of creativity and innovation in the maritime sector. The Authority a vital role in developing an integrated, safe and sustainable marine environment that responds effectively to rapid changes, keeps up with emerging trends, and meets future needs. We will continue to develop more creative ideas to enhance the maritime sector's competitiveness through the Maritime Innovation Center to support the Dubai Innovation Strategy which focuses on making the emirate the world's most innovative city."

Mahmoud Ewidah, Director of Information Technology Department, DMCA, said: "The 'Smart Marine Services Platform' aims to build an informational and procedural interactive base by designing, developing and maintaining a cutting-edge and smart system for maritime licensing and registration services. It will provide several channels for offering services that meet the requirements and expectations of the Dubai Government. We will adopt international best practices, the highest standards, and the latest 'smart' technologies to ensure easy access to an integrated portfolio of high-quality services through various 'smart' channels. We are very optimistic about this initiative which represents a strong impetus towards improved performance. It will also advance DMCA's contributions towards achieving the strategic objectives for Dubai Plan 2021 to build a proactive, innovative and smart government that guarantees the welfare of all members of society."
