H.E Ali Salim Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Airport Authority, was re-elected to serve a second term as Regional Board Director, during the 12th Regional Assembly of the Airports Council International (ACI) Asia Pacific, which was held in Doha, Qatar, last week. H.E was re-elected for another three-year term, as one of the 13 Regional Board Directors, by a majority of votes by the council’s 102 members.

Recognized as one of the most influential events in the aviation community in the Asia-Pacific region, the annual meeting was attended by key industry leaders and experts representing airports and industry partners, including airlines, regulators and suppliers, from all over the world and addressed major issues affecting the aviation industry in the Asia-Pacific region.

H.E Ali Salim Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Airport Authority, said: “My colleagues and I are looking forward to raising the level of cooperation between aviation partners and strengthening regional partnerships among major airports”.

He added: “The council creates an important platform for industry stakeholders to share ideas and recommendations that may help boost performance and introduce new concepts to develop standards and make a difference in the future of the aviation industry within the geographical area of the council”.

ACI Asia-Pacific, one of the five regions of the ACI, is based in Hong Kong and represents 102 members operating 579 airports in 48 countries in Asia-Pacific and the Middle-East. The only global trade representative of the world’s airports, ACI, is made up of five geographical regions - Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe, Latin America/Caribbean, and North America – and represents airports’ interests with governments and international organizations, develops standards, policies and recommended practices for airports, and provides information and training opportunities to raise standards around the world.
