Iraq has invited investors to construct a technology city for the production of robots, computers, cameras and smart phones, the official Alsabah daily said on Sunday.

“Al-Nasiriya Technology City” would be located in the capital of the Southern Dhi Qar Governorate and will be spread on an area of around 250,000 square metres, the paper said, quoting Hamid Hasouna, Chairman of Dhi Qar Investment Commission.

“We have received approval from the competent authorities and have already allocated land for the project,” Hasouna said.

He also revealed plans to build another industrial city for the production of heavy products near the Technology City.

Hasouna did not provide further details of the two projects but said they would be offered as investment.
