The Egyptian Minister of Health and Population Hala Zayed met with the Iraqi Ambassador to Egypt Ahmed al Dulaimi to discuss mutual relations between the two countries in the health sector and other fields, according to a statement.

The official visit came in light of the current outbreak of COVID-19, which infected 62,275 people in Iraq until press time.

Zayed directed to send emergency medical supplies to Iraq within three days from the visit, as stated by the Iraqi foreign affairs ministry.

Al Dulaimi, meanwhile, praised the accomplishments of the Egyptian health ministry in implementing preventive and curative health measures to counter the spread of the virus.

He further called for the importance of convening the joint Iraqi-Egyptian high committee to be held in Baghdad, in a way to activate the memorandum of understanding and files of bilateral cooperation to serve both sides.

According to a July 6th announcement, Egypt registered a total of 76,222 coronavirus infections.
