BEIJING, July 10 (Reuters) - The China Solid Waste and Chemicals Management Bureau, a unit of the country's environment ministry, on Wednesday issued import quotas for 124,450 tonnes of high-grade copper scrap and 306,930 tonnes of aluminium scrap.

No time-frame was specified for the quotas, which come after China restricted imports of seven types of scrap metal, including copper scrap and aluminium scrap, from July 1 in a crackdown against so-called "foreign garbage."

The latest quotas, which have been awarded to companies in the key scrap regions of Zhejiang and Guangdong, come on top of an initial batch of quotas for around 240,000 tonnes of copper scrap and around 54,000 tonnes of aluminium scrap issued last month, mostly for Zhejiang.
