RIYADH — The Shoura Council approved the draft competition and government procurement law. The council session, chaired by its Deputy President Abdullah Bin Salem took the decision.

Yahya Al-Samaani, assistant president of the council, said that the Council approved the bill after listening to the report of the financial committee in this regard.

The draft law, which consists of 97 articles, aims to regulate procedures related to business and procurement as well as to prevent abuse of power and influence for the sake of personal interests in order to protect public wealth.

The Council also started deliberations on the draft law for the periodic inspection of vehicles, presented by Ali Aseeri, chairman of the security affairs committee.

After listening to the viewpoints of members, the Council decided to give the committee some more time to carry out studies on the proposals and suggestions made by the members.
