Muscat: – Keeping up with digital transformation and to meet the growing demand for easy-to-use digital payments, Oman Oil Marketing Company (OOMCO) is now offering an enhanced process using the e-payment App ‘Thawani’ at its service stations across the Sultanate. The move follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Thawani Technologies LLC. Customers will enjoy a full digital experience through an advanced integration between the fuel dispensers and Thawani App, this allows them to get payment notifications on their mobile phones directly without scanning any QR codes which will provide a delightful experience for customers while fueling at OOMCO.

The agreement comes after a successful pilot project in 2018 at four OOMCO service stations. The smart solution complies with the Central Bank of Oman’s regulations as well as international PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards) for data integrity and secure encryption. To use the mobile payment App, users can have it downloaded on their smartphones and link their vehicle plate numbers to their Thawani account.

David Kalife, Chief Executive Officer of Oman Oil Marketing Company said, “The first of its kind in the Sultanate, ‘Thawani’ e-payment platform is part of our strategy to provide a delightful experience for our customers at all times. Our aim is to transform the industry with our innovative products and provide convenient alternatives for everyday transactions.”

Majid Al Amri, Founder and CEO of Thawani Technologies said, “Our state-of-the-art payment solutions and innovations are proving hugely popular as an alternative payment method to cash. OOMCO’s customers can look forward to a safe and secure method to pay, only one click away, for their fuel and other products.”

Going beyond the pump, Oman Oil Marketing Company is building a digital savvy brand that adds value to customers’ lives, by creating an unparalleled chain of service hubs that provide access to integrated offerings including shopping, food products and services.
