MOSCOW- The Russia-led Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project is still under "unlawful" pressure from the United States, a Kremlin spokesman said on Tuesday.

Dmitry Peskov said on a daily conference call with reporters that the Kremlin was closely watching developments over the Nord Stream 2 in order to ensure its completion.

In the latest move to halt the project, the United States has informed Germany that it plans to impose sanctions on a Russian pipe-laying ship involved in construction of the pipeline from Russia to Germany, the German Economy Ministry said on Monday.
