ArabFinance: Egypt, Ethiopia, and Sudan will continue negotiations on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) on August 18th, according to a ministerial statement.

The new round of discussions aims to reach an agreement on the filling and the operation of the GERD in the quickest possible time, the Egyptian foreign ministry added in an August 16th statement note.

Egypt stressed "the importance of negotiations to reach a legally binding agreement that will regulate the filling and operations of the GERD in a way that preserves the rights of the three countries and secures their water interests.”

Both Egypt and Sudan demanded earlier to suspend all negotiations on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam to hold internal talks and consultations regarding Ethiopia’s situation.
