MEDrillTech to be made an annual consortium of regional oil and gas experts

Riding on the successful conclusion of the inaugural MEDrillTech knowledge consortium event in Abu Dhabi, co-organizer, Dubai based E&P events management and knowledge nurturing firm, plans to host the event annually. The consortium was a display of regional support and commitment to not only maintain high productivity but abide by core ethics, such as adherence to HSE standards, and to explore and develop best practices in the oil and gas industry.

Faced with declining oil prices, major oil producing nations especially in the Gulf region, are seeking innovative ways to increase efficiency of oil production. The declining prices have created an environment conducive for inter-industry cooperation with an aim to increase efficiency and efficacy to reflect new technological and process advances. The MEDrillTech consortium which focused on the drilling sector "Provided a platform for an inclusive approach to highlight the great work and leadership of operating companies and their partners," said Mr. Rafeeq Kunhi Director Oil & Gas, E&P.

Apart of the discussions and knowledge sharing initiatives through inclusive panel discussions, poster presentations, and multiple networking opportunities, was on new technologies and methodologies in comparison to existing protocols and technology. "These discussions gave service providers a chance to speak firsthand with project owners to understand the current status quo and identify areas in which they could contribute for the future," said Mr. Kunhi. It also gave rise to discussions on whether newer technologies in the drilling sector are necessary, and whether they contribute to drastically better results.

The inaugural MEDrillTEch co-organized by ADMA-OPCO in collaboration with ADNOC, ADCO, ZADCO, and NDC witnessed high attendance and participation of senior and leading professionals, engineers, and experts key technology and services providers, end user operators, various departments and organizations from the local, regional and international Oil & Gas industry.

MEDrillTEch consortiums of the future will strive to emulate the scope of MEDrillTech 2015. To this end collaboration between regional expertise from organizations such as Aramco, Petroleum Development Oman, Kuwait Oil Company, and Qatar Petroleum, and local representation in the form ADNOC, ADCO and others, and international representation from the big oil and gas companies such as Weatherford and Schlumberger will be sought after to keep the discussions relevant and complete.
