MUSCAT: A new batch of national health professionals of various assistant medical specialties have joined the Royal Oman Police (ROP).

The move comes in continuation to the ROP plans to employ national cadres graduating from higher education institutions in coordination with the relevant authorities.

Brigadier Dr Abdulmalik bin Sulaiman al Kharousi, Director-General of Medical Services at ROP, met with the new medical professionals and briefed them about the job nature in the ROP medical services and their national role in providing medical care.

Al Kharousi said that that the joining of the new group is among the priorities of the Police General Command to provide quality medical services for the ROP employees and personnel, and to improve standard of the police medical sector in order to ensure the effective and professional police work.

The appointment of a number of nationals in assistant medical jobs (general practitioners, nurses, x-ray and lab technicians), was in response to the directives of the Police General Command after they passed the evaluation procedures. The move aims to supply the Directorate-General of Health Services at ROP with medical professionals in line with the Omanization strategy and in accordance to a plan aimed to expand and develop health services provided to the police affiliates and their families. It is also aimed to meet the geographical expansion of the Directorate-General of Health Services at ROP to cover all police sites with new clinics and health institutions, Al Kharousi said.
