RIYADH — The Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) barred SMSA Express Transportation Company Ltd (SMSA Express) from providing any new postal services to individuals and signing any new contracts for the business sector until further notice, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said on Monday.

The suspension came after the company violated a number of provisions of the regulation governing the protection of rights of beneficiaries from postal services.

The CITC has instructed the SMSA to speed up its work and find radical solutions to address the delay in delivering existing shipments, respond to customer inquiries through its digital and telephone channels and inform apprise the Commission within a week about the action taken in this regard.

The CITC also said that it would take all necessary legal measures, if the company fails to quickly address customer complaints within the specified grace period, including the withdrawal of the company’s license and stopping all services provided by the company.

The CITC warned that the company would bear all the legal consequences of other relevant parties as a result of violating the regulations and decisions of the Commission.

The CITC called on all postal service providers to take all the necessary measures to ensure providing postal services of the required quality.

It noted that it would continue to protect the beneficiaries’ rights and impose all the required penalties and register all the violations against the errant companies.
