Muscat: A special Oman Air round-trip flight will be operated from Muscat to Thailand to bring back Omani citizens who have been undergoing medical treatment in the East Asian country.

The flight, with 8 doctors and nurses from the Ministry of Health on board, is scheduled to depart on Thursday and will return the following day.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that once this flight returned to Muscat, there would be no citizens remaining who wished to come home, but were stranded in foreign countries. Oman Air informed that if it received an official request, the Sultanate's national carrier would be ready to repatriate Omani citizens, should the need arise.

In a statement, Oman Air said that in all its repatriation flights, the airline’s crew and passengers are carefully briefed to follow all official requirements in order to ensure highest standers of health and safety. Ground crew extensively clean the aircraft after each flight to ensure that they are safe for use by crew and passengers, the statement added.

An Oman Air spokesman said, “We fly to serve the Sultanate, and we are fully prepared to help people with medical conditions return to their homes. We are most grateful to the medical professionals who will be on this flight and attending to our citizens’ medical needs as we bring them home.”
