Police in UAE have issued a warning against online scams.

In a statement issued by the Criminal Investigation Department of Sharjah Police, it warned the public to be wary of cyber scams and replying to messages from unknown senders.

Sharjah Police stated that residents reported cases regarding messages asking the recipient to update their personal bank account details - by pressing on a random link.

On opening the link, the senders or fraudsters would have the ability to access their bank accounts and withdraw money from it.

The police urged the public to carry out bank transactions through direct channels provided by the bank, and be mindful of their financial transactions to avoid getting duped.
