Executive summary

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has reduced the administrative fines for delayed submission of the employment contract and work permit renewal applications.  

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) has reduced the administrative fines for delayed submission of the employment contract and work permit renewal applications. Further, the maximum amount of fines for these violations has been capped at AED 2,000 per employee.

Employers who fail to submit fully executed employment contract to the MOHRE within 60 days of the foreign national’s arrival or change in immigration status will be fined AED 100 per month of delay, a reduction from the previous fine of AED 500. Fully executed employment contract for mission work permit applicants must be submitted within 30 days of arrival and the fine remains at AED 100 per day of delay.

Delay in renewing the work permit within 60 days of expiry is now subject to a fine of AED 200 per foreign national, a reduction from the previous fine of AED 500.

What This Means for Employers and Foreign Nationals

Employers that have missed the deadlines for submission of the employment contract and / or work permit renewal applications for their employees will be subject to reduced administrative fines which are now capped at AED 2,000 per person.
