Abu Dhabi-based developer Aldar Properties is expected to award the main construction contract for its Alreeman II project, spread over an area of 2.8 million square metres in Al Shamkha, Abu Dhabi, by the first quarter of 2022, a source close to the project said. 

Alreeman II is a 1.7-billion-UAE-dirham ($46 million) master-planned villa community for UAE nationals, according information posted on Aldar’s website. 

“The bid submission for the main contract for Alreeman Residential Villas & Infrastructure Works (Package 2) is currently ongoing, and the contract is expected to be awarded by early January 2022. The bid submission deadline is 31 October 3021,” the source said. 

He said an Expression of Interest invite was sent to Fibrex Construction Group, ALEC Engineering & Contracting, Pivot Engineering & Contracting Company and Al Rakha General Contracting. 

The scope of work involves the construction of 554 residential villas and associated infrastructure facilities. The project will also have a wide range of amenities including a school, retail offerings, parks, mosques, and running and cycling tracks, according to a June 2019 Aldar statement. 

Arcadis has been appointed as the design and lead consultant for the project, the source said, adding that the estimated value of the project is $200 million. 

Construction is slated for completion by the fourth quarter of 2024, he said.
