Muscat - SalamAir, Oman’s first budget airline, has added 18 new members to its growing team of cabin crew during a graduation ceremony commemorating their completion of a month-long training. Conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Manpower, OPAL and the Polyglot Institute, the training aimed at enhancing the necessary skillsets and knowledge of the staff to advance their career development.

As part of a ‘cabin crew safety and emergency procedure’ course, the new recruits were comprehensively trained in 13 different areas including aeronautics, security, first aid, dangerous goods awareness, crew cooperation, accident reporting and crew duties and responsibilities.

François Bouteiller, SalamAir CEO said, “We are continuing to redefine our guests’ travel experience with budget airlines and offering quality service on-board is an essential part of the journey. By training and providing our crew members with the tools to grow professionally, we are offering our talented employees a platform to embark on rewarding careers in the aviation industry.”

He further added, “The Middle East is one of the fastest expanding regions for the airline industry, with air traffic in Oman alone expected to grow by 40% by 2019. For that reason, it is imperative we support and contribute to this growth with local and National born individuals who are fully qualified to meet highest international safety and quality standards. As Oman’s first budget airline that reflects the ‘soul of Oman’, our ambitious expansion strategy coupled with our growing number of professional staff members will ensure that our guests reach their destination of choice with complete satisfaction.”

Since its launch, SalamAir has expanded its route network to include seven destinations backed by a total of 70 cabin crew. Keeping up with their commitment to contribute to and support Oman’s burgeoning hospitality and tourism sectors by investing in local talent, the airline ensures all their staff undergo a combination of both theoretical and practical components that will reinforce the airline’s overall operational capabilities.

With a number of new destination launches in the pipeline, SalamAir will continue to open the skies for high-potential youth to join its growing roster of employees.
