My Salaam wishes you a Happy Hijri New Year!

We had a good mix of stories this week, showcasing some of the best talents who decided to take a deep dive, prove their skills and finally make a mark.

Saliha Mahmood is not a strange name. The MasterChef UK winner works as a junior doctor and plans to combine her current vocation with her love for serving flavoursome and dedicatedly spiced and sweet food. In an interview with My Salaam, Saliha talks about her future plans.

The story of Nada Mashaal, popularly known as the hijabi ballerina from Alexandria is all about chasing dreams and destroying shackles. For this 20-year-old veterinary medicine student, ballet is a passion, though a rare one in her native Egypt. Nada tells My Salaam how she became a hijabi ballet dancer.

And, this one is about entreprenuership. Take a look at our story about the world's first Emirati Barista, Ibrahim Al Mallouhi and how he went ahead and set up Espresso Lab, a boutique brand specialising in specialty craft coffee sourced from plantations around the world.
