DUBAI - Saudi Kayan Petrochemical Co was a standout performer in early trading on Tuesday, leading a rally by other petrochemical companies in Saudi Arabia.

The Saudi index  edged up 0.4 percent in trading as Saudi Kayan, the most heavily traded stock, climbed 8.5 percent to 10.80 riyals.

It was a similar story for other petrochemical producers, with Methanol Chemicals Co rising 5.6 percent and Rabigh Refining and Petrochemical Co climbing 3.9 percent.

In Dubai, the index edged up 0.5 percent, with contractor Drake and Scull International rising by 4.3 percent to 2.17 dirhams.

Qatar's index  also hardly moved, slipping 0.4 percent. Qatar Navigation was the most active stock, gaining 1.6 percent.
