Egypt's Elsewedy Electric announced on Wednesday that its local subsidiary has bagged a 124.5 million UAE dirhams ($34 million) transmission lines contract in Dubai.

The company said in a stock exchange statement that Elsewedy Power Electrical Contracting Dubai was awarded a turnkey contract by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) for supplying, installing, testing and commissioning 132 KV transmission lines that will extend 22.5 kilometres.

Eleven companies were in race for the project, according to the statement.

The contract would be implemented over 17 months from the signing date, the statement concluded.
