During GITEX Technology Week 2017

The Department of Health, the healthcare sector regulator in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, is using GITEX Technology week to showcase latest technologies in healthcare sector management and services.

Participating under the umbrella of Abu Dhabi Digital Government Pavilion, the Department of Health is demonstrating a number of projects at its stand no. 27 including Crisis Information Management System, a Real Time Information system on critical healthcare resources in Abu Dhabi, Patient Authentication project, a biometric patient identification system using Emirates ID card during encounters at health care facilities,  and latest updates on its mobile application.

The Crisis Information Management System collects real time information on healthcare resources including regular and critical beds occupancy, available services and specialties, ambulances, blood bank inventory, mortuary and strategic stockpile inventory. The system helps the Department of Health manage health emergencies and provide up-to date information to all relevant stakeholders.

Dr. Asma Al Mannaei, Chairman of Digital Transformation Committee at the Department of Health, said: “Built and driven by innovation, Abu Dhabi’s digital government will showcase its series of successes and achievements over the years, which have served the various needs of Abu Dhabi’s community through effective digital transformation. Digital transformation and the contribution of Abu Dhabi’s strategic partners have strengthened the pillars of the knowledge-based economy and the fulfillment of the UAE leadership’s aspirations."

The Patient Authentication Project aims to improve patient experience by speeding up registration process at point of care, reduce misuse and improve patient safety by accurately identifying individuals and their medical history.

The new mobile application features provide a range of services that can help users' access information on healthcare facilities, including hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation and specialist centers. It has a database of information on contact details of a selected facility, the range and type of available services, the insurance coverage, operating hours and the best way to schedule an appointment. Department of Health mobile application can be downloaded from Google and Apple stores.

Users can also search for a doctor using criteria such as Doctor's Name, Specialty and Condition. Additionally, it provides patients with information on their latest doctor as the diagnosis, prescribed medicine and a printable copy of their sick leave, where applicable.

Mr. Ali Mohammad Al Ali, IT Manager at the Department of Health, stated: "Enhancing the quality and accessibility of services through quick, reliable and user-friendly digital solutions notably increases user and customer happiness. Diversifying our service channels enriches our customers experience and boosts government integration though smart platforms leading to greater levels of digital maturity in Abu Dhabi.'
