Dubai, UAE: As the world continues to be consumed by new technologies, the passion for picking up a good book remains strong in the region as witnessed at the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale Dubai 2019.

The 11-day Book Sale closed its doors at 11.59pm last night after a run of 255 hours, which attracted 250,000 avid readers and occasional page turners.

With three million brand-new books on display, visitors were spoilt for choice at the Sound Stage, Dubai Studio City, with the full spectrum of genres on offer at 50% to 80% off recommended retail price.

Following on from its first chapter in 2018, the Sale was deemed a success in Dubai. Most popular genres sought out by book fans included children books, non-fiction and fiction books.

With so many people passing through the doors, it represents further proof that the Sale is a facilitator of UAE Government initiatives to encourage reading.

“However, this year’s Sale was well received by book lovers and demonstrates that the culture of reading is alive and well in the UAE. We’ve welcomed readers of all ages, of varied interests and that’s the beauty of reading. It enhances knowledge, promotes tolerance and shapes personas,” said Mohammed Al Aidaroos, Managing Partner, Big Bad Wolf Book Sale Dubai.

“Our goal from the get-go has been to encourage reading, spread the love for books and to ensure that people from all walks of life have access to affordable, brand new English books. We hope our presence over the last 11 days has encouraged more people to cultivate a culture of reading and learning through books,” continued Al Aidaroos.

Staying true to making books accessible, the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale Dubai, once again, through its CSR arm - Red Readerhood, donated 500 books plus an additional 6,609 books that were donated by customers. In total, these 7,109 books will benefit local public libraries and children hospitals as well as underprivileged children in Kenya, Africa in an aim to cultivating a culture of reading and improving literacy rates.
