Dubai: Al Rawabi Dairy Company, the largest UAE-based dairy company, by herd size and production, today welcomed participants to the Risk Management in Mega Agricultural Projects training organized by the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.

Around 50 professionals in Farming sector from Middle East and Africa attended the training sessions which aim to transfer knowledge and build capacities of personnel working in the agricultural sector as the main core of food security in a world facing challenging situations of climate change and scarcity of resources.

Through this training session, we hope to identify specific threats and how these practices will be applied in order to minimize the risk or even avoid and prevent situations that could hamper the business,” noted Dr Ahmed Eltigani, CEO of Al Rawabi Dairy Company.

By holding our training sessions at Al Rawabi Dairy Company, participants will be able to gain first-hand knowledge of their practices to help create a framework in which they can identify the threats and turn them into opportunities,” added Dr Larry Bauman, PH.D, D.V.M of the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.

The 3-days training sessions included workshops on ‘Best Practices to Improve Milk Quality’ and ‘The Global Evolution of the Holstein Breed’ and topics on ‘Management of Environmental Risks in Mega Agricultural Projects’, ‘Feeding Dairy Cows to Maximize Production and Health’ and ‘Maximizing the General Potential of Modern Dairy Cow’ in addition to  a session on 4- Imperatives Of Great Leaders with a tour of Al Rawabi farm.

The topics were   discussed by Dr Bauman who is a veterinarian and professor of dairy science at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls; Tom Kestell, owner of the award-winning Ever-Green-View Farms in Waldo, Wisconsin; Dr Suhair Saad, Environmental Consultant at Al Rawabi Dairy Company who is responsible for studying and developing environmental methods to assist the company reach its environmental sustainability goals.

The last day had Dr Eltigani speaking about the 4 Imperatives of Great Leaders and the training concluded with an awarding ceremony.
