Mr. Nawaf Mohammed Al Jishi, Chairman of the Bahrain Society of the Private Training Institutes (BSPTI), said that the training institutes crisis is expected to end with the return of the recent government support to train Bahrainis, appreciating the efforts performed by the esteemed government headed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to support various private sector facilities to strengthen its stability in the face of the exceptional circumstances imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Al Jishi added that more than 90 institutes and training centers in Bahrain are gratified with the return of this expected support that puts an end to the numerous financial and operational difficulties they faced over the past months, nevertheless, worked hard all the time to confront those difficulties to support their Bahraini employees.

During his reception by the Labour and Social Development Minister HE Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, Al Jishi praised the attention and support of HE the Minister and the Ministry's team for the training institutes and their help in overcoming challenging times, noting at the same time the great role of Chairman of the Labour Fund ‘Tamkeen’ HE Shaikh Mohammed, and HE Dr. Ebrahim Janahi, Tamkeen CEO, and their work team also had a crucial role in supporting the training institutes to survive in the market.

In a statement on the margins of the meeting, Al Jishi pointed out that the Bahrain Society of the Private Training Institutes had submitted to the Ministry of Labor and Social Development several ideas and views, which affirms the great national role that the training institutes play in supporting the esteemed government’s policy to raise the percentage of Bahrainisation and development of national competencies.

“Our ideas and visions included strengthening the Ministry of Labor and Social Development and other regulators of the training sector’s control over unlicensed violators who practice the work of training institutes, in addition to  facilitating the registration of training programs in the Ministry of Labor, and that the Department of Training Institutes Affairs in the Ministry continues to play its role in facilitating the work of training institutes, and resuming the Society’s quality initiatives in cooperation with its partners.” Al Jishi added.

He affirmed that the Society’s views and visions also included its demands to support the training sector by subsidizing the wages of Bahraini employees at training institutes completely and not partially, as the Society believes that even with the return of training, the institutes will face great financial difficulties until the due amounts resulting from the training contract are received according to the procedures.

“The Society expects that the Ministry of Labor will consider the possibility of returning practical training and examinations in open spaces for a very limited number of trainees, especially international exams, with full commitment to precautionary measures, in addition to the possibility that the training institutes will play a greater role in implementing the (Opportunities) program supervised by Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs, in coordination with the Ministry of Labor, as one of the initiatives of (Response), the National Program for the Development of the Youth and Sports Sector in Bahrain.” Al Jishi concluded.
