80,000 students from schools across the United Arab Emirates will visit WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017 held at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council.

The student visits to WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017 have been organized by Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET), the event’s organizers, the UAE Ministry of Education and the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) with the aim of raising the awareness of students about the Competition. Students will be given a detailed explanation of the nature of the WorldSkills Competition and how they can participate in future editions, as well as learning the importance of vocational skills and their role in creating new job opportunities across various fields. 

Ali Al Marzouqi, Head of Emirates Skills said: “The WorldSkills Competition provides an exceptional opportunity for a new generation of students to learn about the innovative and highly-developed methods used by competitors in demonstrating traditional skills, which help them to achieve better results.

“We have therefore decided to invite our students to be part of this event, to encourage them to embrace the values of quality, speed, efficiency, and innovation, in accordance with the directives of the UAE leadership for shaping and influencing the future of our nation.”

Mr. Al Marzouqi emphasized the importance of the Ministry of Education and the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK)’s role, through the education councils in each Emirate, and that of individual schools in opening up WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017 to tens of thousands of UAE students, saying: “They have made great efforts over a long period of time to ensure the successful organization of these visits.

“We are confident that the positive outcome of the Competition will be a key factor in motivating many students to make more informed decisions about their future careers based on the options available to them, and will open the door to a new world of opportunities for them. “

About WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017
WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017 will be held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.  More than 1,300 competitors from the 77 Member Countries and Regions of World Skills International will compete in 51 skill competitions – from Aircraft Maintenance and Robotics, to Fashion Technology and Graphic Design.

WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017 (WSAD 2017) aims to inspire young people to study Technical education & vocational skills for entrepreneurship or for their career, in line with the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision.
