Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) launched on Monday an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) tender for a cable car system and luxury hotels for Dubai Summit Complex (DSC) in Hatta.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai had announced the Dubai Summit and Hatta Sustainable Waterfalls projects in January 2021 to be executed by DEWA.

Dubai Summit includes the construction of a 5.4-kilometre cable car to transport tourists to the summit of 1,300-metre Um Al Nesoor, the highest natural summit in Dubai, according to previous statements from DEWA.

The cable car route passes over the Hatta Dam lake and the upper dam lake, which are parts of the Hatta pumped storage hydroelectricity plant currently under construction, as well as over the mountains.  The departure station will be built on an upper platform above the Hatta Dam. The intermediate stop will have a viewing platform and facilities to serve tourists, as well as a luxury hotel while the top station will include a panoramic viewing platform and facilities for tourists as well as suites from the main hotel.

The closing date for the EPC tender is 15 February 2022.

Last month, DEWA had launched a tender to procure third party consultancy services tender for design review, validation and value engineering of EPC contractor’s design and engineering for Dubai Summit and Hatta pumped storage hydroelectricity plant with a bid submission deadline of 25 November 2021.
