Cairo –  The Egyptian pound has become the top performing currency among emerging markets during the last three years despite the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis, according to data released by the cabinet’s media centre.

From 30 June 2017 until the end of June 2020, the EGP appreciated against the US dollar by 10.8%, followed by the Thai baht which advanced by 8.9% against the greenback.

In addition, the new Taiwan dollar rose by 2.8% against the US dollar, while the Philippine peso and the Malaysian ringgit appreciated by 1.3% and 0.2%, respectively.
