Mubasher: Investcorp on Wednesday announced the acquisition of several new multi-family properties in the United States.

The properties, totalling six, house a combined 2,876 units, the Bahrain-based investment firm said, noting that the value of the deal was $311 million.

The properties are located in major rapidly growing metropolitan areas, having “garden style” apartment communities, Investcorp said in a statement.

It added that its investment included two properties in Tampa, Florida, housing 1,231 units, three properties in Houston, Texas, comprising 1,392 units, and a property in Salt Lake City, Utah, comprising 253 units.

“Investcorp continues to witness strong levels of activity in U.S. real estate investment, which is a testament of our strong commitment to this market and asset class. The high occupancy rates of these property types, together with the positive outlook for the multifamily sector makes these six properties a natural fit to our existing portfolio of residential properties,” commented Investcorp’s Co-CEO Hazem Ben-Gacem.

With the addition of these six new properties, Investcorp currently manages 13,000 multi-family units across the US., 3,400 of which were acquired in the past year.

Owing to its long-standing position in the US, Investcorp has “built the required depth and experience to identify attractive investment opportunities” like this new investment, the firm’s managing director and real estate product specialist Babak Sultani said.

He added that the newly-acquired six multifamily properties were strategically located in rapidly growing metropolitan areas, giving Investcorp the “confidence in their long-term value.”
