RIYADH — Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs has denied media reports claiming that muezzins of mosques in the Kingdom have been assigned the duty to pronounce the Eid takbeeraat.

In a statement issued on its official Twitter early Thursday, the ministry said that the reports are not true and it has not issued any instructions in this regard.

“The Ministry denies the news that was circulated in a newspaper and some social media news sites regarding the assignment of muezzin of mosques to pronounce the Eid takbeeraat, noting that the news is not true and the Ministry did not issue anything in this regard, the tweet read.

The ministry has called on everyone to take information from its valid sources.
