The new five-year strategic initiatives of the Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Minister will ensure easy access to justice in partnership with the private sector, affirmed legislative and executive branches during a joint virtual meeting yesterday.

The meeting reviewed the strategic initiatives (2021-2025) put forward by the ministry to enhance access to justice which will be based on seven pillars that will be implemented over a period of five years.

Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa said that these include developing the legal and judicial work environment, enhancing the role of licensees in resolving disputes, involvement of the private sector, serving the public, improving the predictability of judgments and criminal justice procedures, developing judicial procedures and digital courts, and the practice of the legal profession, and enhancing the family and child protection environment.

Parliament Speaker Fouzia Zainal said that ongoing co-ordination and co-operation between legislative and executive branches is the basis for achieving excellence, progress and development for the benefit of the homeland and citizens. She praised the government’s keenness to present future plans and projects to Parliament and the Shura Council.

Shura Council Chairman Ali Saleh Al Saleh stressed that the strategic initiatives reflect the significant development of the legal and judicial system in Bahrain, and will contribute to the improvement of legal services provided to citizens and residents.
