FUJAIRAH, 13th September, 2015 (WAM) -- In implementation of the directives of H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, and H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras al-Khaimah, the road linking the Emirates of Fujairah and Ras al-Khaimah, has been launched and re-named as 'Martyrs Street', in memory of the martyrs who lost their lives while performing their national duty during the Saudi-led coalition 'Operation Restoring Hope' in support of the legitimate government of Yemen.

The renaming of the street is also a tribute to the acts of courage and sacrifice which the martyred Emirati servicemen embodied.

The launching ceremony of Martyrs Street, or 'Shuhada Street' in Arabic, was attended by Mohammed Saif Al Afkham, Director-General of Fujairah Municipality, Munther Mohammed Bin Shakar, Director-General of Ras al-Khaimah Municipality, and a number of other departmental directors from both institutions.
