Private sector employees have been recommended to work from home, while those who cannot have been directed to strictly follow social distancing.

Industry, Commerce and Tourism Minister Zayed Alzayani said this was a “weapon” with which Bahrain can fight Covid-19.

“The private sector has co-operated well in the past two weeks in terms of working from home with a good number of companies doing this.

“This is a good proof that the Bahraini community is aware and conscious – and this is the weapon that we need to combat this virus.

“We urge all employers in the private sector to apply work from home as much as possible and reduce the number of workers present as much as possible in departments.

“They should also ensure social distancing measures at the workplace.

“There should also be a restriction on the number of employees using corporate transportation.”

The minister was speaking at a Press conference held last night at the Crown Prince Centre for Training and Medical Research, at the BDF Hospital.
