More than 1,000 affordable houses to come up in Barka, Oman

These units will be available to citizens wishing to acquire adequate, comfortable and affordable housing

Muscat - More than 1,000 housing units will be built under a partnership project of the government and private sector in Barka. The project will be situated near the wali’s office on a plot spread over 355,000sq m.

The Ministry of Housing launched the Hai Al Naseem Complex as part of the Sorouh Integrated Residential Neighborhood Project at the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre (OCEC) on Monday.

The launch ceremony was held under the auspices of H E Sheikh Saif al Shabibi, Minister of Housing. These units will be available to citizens wishing to acquire adequate, comfortable and affordable housing. By developing quality housing in integrated neighbourhoods at affordable prices, the project aims to provide new alternatives so as to reduce the demand for land by eligible citizens under the land law and its annexes.

The aim of the project is to provide a decent and modern life for Omani citizens. The housing units will be designed keeping in mind the Arab culture and heritage.

The project will feature modern living standards with service facilities, green spaces and large parks. It will also include an integrated system of social and service facilities, such as mosques, health and commercial centres, public parks and sports grounds.

The project, which seeks to reduce government spending on providing plots to citizens, is the first outcome of the cooperation between the Supreme Council for Planning (SCP) and the Ministry of Housing, represented by the Directorate General for Real Estate Development.
