The ministry will obtain EGP 150 million from the WB, according to May 2ndstatement.

This allotment will be used in implementing an emergency plan to curb the outbreak of COVID-19 in these two governorates in Upper Egypt. It will be used in providing emergency medical supplies for chest and fever hospitals, as well as quarantine and intensive care units.

Purchasing sanitization and sterilization tools and products will also be included in the funding.

Local development minister Mahmoud Shaarawy noted that the WB approved to purchase the supplies immediately in line with the current emergency case of COVID-19.

This comes in line with the WB’s approval on $400 million funding for Egypt’s health sector.
