The National Water Company (NWC) has awarded the consortium of Saudi-based Alkhorayef Water and Power Technologies Co (AWPT) and France’s Veolia a $95 million water treatment contract for the Riyadh region (the city of Riyadh and all its provinces).

In a statement to the Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul) AWPT said the National Water Company had awarded the contract, worth SAR 358 million ($95 million) to the two companies in consortium.

Under the management contract, the consortium will manage the operation and maintenance of water and environmental treatment services by raising the operational efficiency and technical knowledge, quality and availability of services and maintenance requirements for Riyadh region and the city of Riyadh.

AWPT will own 49 percent of the company that will operate the project.
