Rashid al Nuaimi, an entrepreneur in the Wilayat of Dhank in Al Dhahirah Governorate, is among the area’s success stories.

He was interested in the field of trade and from being a street vendor to owning a factory for the production of perfumes, soap products and detergents, he has found the road to make his passion a profitable business.

Al Nuaimi said that delving into the field of soap and aromatics, he started working with olive oil as the foundation of his business. He was only learning to manufacture this product for personal use before thinking in 2016 to establish a factory for the production of soap and aromatics. He not only equipped it with all the required production equipment, but he also obtained the licence from the concerned authorities.

He added that he started working in the factory to produce soap from natural materials including “murr”, “sabr” and “Luban”, and he distributed his products in various governorates of the Sultanate.

He enhanced his capabilities and expertise in the field of soap, oils and aromatics by joining educational and training courses in several universities, colleges and specialised institutes.

Al Nuaimi pointed out that he likes working in the factory because he has learned and discovered the proportions and standards for soap making, such as the proportions of oil, hardness and materials.

He produces five types of shampoo in addition to other types of soap using different ingredients such as frankincense, coffee, aloes, murr and turmeric, in addition to introducing new types such as frankincense soap with sulphur and soap, charcoal and rice.

Al Nuaimi explained that before the Corona pandemic, profits were between RO 3,000 to 4,500 per month, while during the pandemic, profits decreased to between RO 800 to 2,500 per month, which covers operational and production aspects only.

Al Nuaimi stressed the importance of the natural properties of Luban and its availability in the Sultanate. It is considered a rare Omani gold.

He also turned to the production of frankincense oil, which is one of the best and finest types in the world through the purchase of raw frankincense to introduce it in several industries, including essential oils and soap, as well as the manufacture of rose water with frankincense, various cosmetic products for hair and skin, and sterilisation using frankincense.

He said that he manufactures various other products such as coffee, turmeric, as well as manufacturing oil products, including Yas oil, Yas shampoo, Sidr and eucalyptus wheat shampoo and Omani frankincense, stressing that tests and experiments on the products are carried out before distributing them in local markets.
