OQIC appoints local talent, names new CEO to drive strategic developments

Hasan Al-Lawati comes with 12 years’ of experience

Muscat:Oman Qatar Insurance Company (OQIC), a premier insurer in Oman and a subsidiary of Qatar Insurance Company (QIC), the flagship insurer in the Mena region has announced the appointment of Hasan Al-Lawati as the new CEO of the company.

Lawati will play a key role in driving forward the company’s strategic goals to facilitate further growth and development of OQIC in the Sultanate of Oman.

In his 12 years’ of experience, Hasan has amassed a significant experience of working in the insurance industry, right from underwriting, and risk management to broking. An industry veteran, and an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII) in the UK, Hasan is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Oman Insurance Association (OIA) and the Finance and Insurance Committee at the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

This senior appointment underscores OQIC’s objective of being a talent-driven organisation. From the very start, OQIC has given a lot of weightage to local talent identification, training and development and eventually honing them to spearhead leading positions in the company. Local talent development is well woven into the success fabric of OQIC and the QIC Group.

Commenting on the new appointment, Salem Al Mannai, Group CEO of QIC Group stated, “I extend my heartiest wishes to Hasan and congratulate him on his new role. I am confident that Hasan’s years of experience and expertise in the Omani insurance marketplace will drive forward strategic changes and take OQIC to its next phase of anticipated growth and development.”
