Kuwait Oil Company activates e-service, to reject bids if sent in sealed envelopes

KUWAIT CITY: The Kuwait Oil Company has activated the e-service and has opened a new website dedicated to contracts and tenders, indicating all bids will now be received online and not through the old method of accepting bids in sealed envelopes, reports Al-Anba daily.

The daily has learned from senior oil sources that the service allows all stages submitting bids to be conducted electronically through the website, starting from the process of viewing the tenders, through to submitting and evaluated bids and ending with awarding the contracts, in addition to registering companies electronically.

The sources indicated the company has begun holding preliminary meetings in respect of tenders, practices and auctions electronically through a digital platform which has been dedicated for this purpose.

The sources explained this step comes will help the KOC realize its plan to shift towards electronic and smart services and support the business environment by adopting paperless systems, saving time, effort and expenses for contracting parties in line with the remote work policy under the current circumstances.

The sources stated the company has decided to switch to full electronic transactions due to the modernity and sophistication of the system developed by the company to receive the required documents with the possibility of modification.

The Kuwait Oil Company tenders website allows the participating companies to submit applications electronically and automate all services without the need to visit the department building or meet the concerned employees.

The sources quoting the KOC sources said all contractors have been asked to register via the website, obtain a user number and a secret number, and follow the instructions and added, if the bid is sent manually, it will be rejected.

In other news, Kuwait Society of Engineers (KSE) Chairperson Engr Faisal Al-Atal has discussed various ways to strengthen coordination between KSE, Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) and its subsidiaries with Vice- Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of KPC Engr Hashem Hashem, reports Al-Anba daily.

Also present at the meeting were KSE Treasurer Engr Ali Al-Failakawi and CEO of Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) Eng Walid Al-Badr. Al-Atal confirmed that they tackled the problems of Kuwaiti engineers in the private oil sector who were terminated by KPC’s contractors and its subsidiaries during the corona pandemic.
