Electricity and Water Affairs Minister Wael Al Mubarak yesterday issued directives to return insurance amounts to subscribers within a day or two from the date they close their accounts.

He said the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) will continue to provide new services to streamline procedures and improve service quality in a sustainable manner in accordance with the Government Action Plan, National Strategic Plan and Economic Vision 2030.

This came as he yesterday inspected customer service centres (Mazaya Plaza) in Isa Town.

EWA chief executive Shaikh Nawaf bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa said the authority will pay back insurance amounts to subscribers by cheque within one day or a maximum of two days, for up to BD1,000.

It will transfer amounts exceeding BD1,000 to the subscriber’s bank account.
