Cairo –  Egypt's cement exports jumped by 181% year-on-year (YoY) to $135 million during the first five months of 2021, compared to $48 million in the year-ago period.

A total of 67 countries received Egypt's cement exports during the January-May period and about seven countries made up 77.8% of the exports, according to a report by the Export Council for Building Materials, Refractories, and Metallurgy Industries on Monday.

Libya topped Egypt's cement export market destinations with $26.792 million or 19.8%, followed by Kenya with $22.09 million or 16.3%, and Ivory Coast with $16.921 million or 12.5%.

Sudan came in the fourth position with $14.970 million, while Uganda and Ghana imported cement from Egypt with respective values of $9.991 million and $8.511 million.
