Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt is currently building West Bakr wind farm in the Gulf of Suez at a capacity of 250 megawatts (MW) with total investments of $330 million, spokesman of the Egyptian Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Ayman Hamza, said.

Scheduled for commencement by the end of 2021, the wind farm is expected to produce up to 2,000 gigawatts (GW) annually with a total of 100 wind turbines, Hamza told Mubasher in a phone interview on Sunday.

The project is forecast to create more than 500 direct and indirect jobs over the two-year period of project implementation, he pointed out.

It is noteworthy that the combined capacity of renewable energy plants in Egypt is projected to reach about 6,628 MW by the end of 2021.
