Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s transport minister Kamel Elwazir has announced that the construction of the $550 million (EGP 9.218 billion) multi-purpose terminal on Berth-55 at Port of Alexandria is in progress.

Situated on 560,000 square metres, the new terminal will have the capacity to handle six ships simultaneously, he added.

The handling capacity of the terminal will reach a range from 15 to 18 million tonnes annually.

Port of Alexandria, Suez Canal, and Holding Company for Maritime & Land Transport (HCMLT) hold 34%, 33%, and 33%, respectively, of the new terminal.
