H E Saeed bin Hamoud al Maawali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), has issued a decision (No 116/2023) related to the executive regulations of the Civil Aviation Law.

The decision stipulates that CAA will develop national programmes for civil aviation security and air transport facilitation, in addition to the formation of the National Committee for Airspace Planning.

The committee will include a representative of CAA and members representing the Foreign Ministry and Royal Air Force of Oman, and define its terms of reference.

The decision also stipulates that the authority will set controls for use of land, buildings and lights in the areas adjacent to airports, and form a committee to study and address all issues related to the use of land adjacent to airports.

The decision prohibits all media outlets from publishing any meteorological information or data other than those obtained from CAA and the practice of any work related to the activities of meteorological services in Oman except after obtaining approval of the authority.

The decision was issued on January 29, and takes effect a day after publication in the Official Gazette.
